Flower Communion
For more than 100 years, Unitarian and UU communities have carried on a tradition of bringing a flower to worship and departing with a different flower than the one they brought. This ritual of communion, created by Rev. Norbert Câpek in Prague and brought to Cambridge, MA by Maja Câpek, his wife, celebrates the way a diverse group of people bless one another and the world. Our annual celebration will also honor Pride Month!
Please bring a flower or two to put in our communal bouquet at the beginning of the service. This is a multigenerational service, with nursery childcare available.
This is the final service at First Church and Parish in Dedham until we resume with Water Communion on September 13. The congregation is invited to worship with Needham and Wellesley UUs over the summer. Read on for information about summer services and contacting staff over the summer.
Please join out on the church green after the service for an end-of-year picnic.
