UU Explorers This Week

Hello families and friends,

Last week in RE we had

Nursery Care with Desi and Ava

OWL K-1 had class.

UU Explorers met and explored bringing in your spiritual practice.  They made clay chalices.

Neighboring Faiths met and are exploring Hinduism. They will be visiting a Hindu Temple on November 15th.

Anyone who is interested are welcome to join them.

Coming of Age had an adventure to The Escape Room at Legacy Place.

This week the kids are in service with no classes.  There will be Nursery care available.

I am off this Sunday.

On 11/17 24 we will have classes for all ages.  The OWL K-1 class will be having their last class that day with families invited to attend.  Please keep an eye out for an email with more information.

On 11/24/24 we will have a joint service with the Allin Church.  The kids will be working on a cool deed that day at the Allin church, and nursery care will be provided in the First Church Nursery.

I know many of you are struggling with the election results.  Please take today for nothing but care.  Care for yourselves, your families, and your community.

I want to share this poem with you.  Maybe not for today or even this week, but for when you are ready.

It’s when the earth shakes
And foundations crumble
That our light is called
To rise up.

It’s when everything falls away
And shakes us to the core
And awakens all
Of our hidden ghosts
That we dig deeper to find
Once inaccessible strength.

It’s in times when division is fierce
That we must reach for each other
And hold each other much
Much tighter.

Do not fall away now.
This is the time to rise.
Your light is being summoned.
Your integrity is being tested
That it may stand more tall.

When everything collapses
We must find within us
That which is indomitable.

Rise, and find the strength in your heart.
Rise, and find the strength in each other

Burn through your devastation,
Make it your fuel.

Bring forth your light.
Now is not the time
To be afraid of the dark

These lines are from the poem "Shake the Earth" by Miciah Pendarvis. It was published in The Atlantic in September 2024.
